1. D3 is opposite D1, D4 iss opposite D2.
On 230 V
When upper wire is on + peak, lower is on - peak, D1 & D3 conduct charging top of C1 + and bottom of C2 -, " caps in series= one cap with 1/2 the value.
When upper wire is on - peak, lower is on + peak, D2 & D4 conduct charging top of C1 + and bottom of C2 -
On 110V
When upper wire is on + peak, D1 charges top of C1, return circuit is via switch.
When upper wire is on - peak, D2 charges bottom of C2, return circuit via switch
So its a full wave rectifier on 230V, 2 X half wave on 110V.
