Help me to improve my IR sensor

Hi,
I used IR led and phototransistor pair. But it shows very small voltage difference for black and white surfaces.
I do not have part nos of that components. pls tell me how should I increase the difference.

Why don't you post your schematic diagram ?
It would be easier to resolve your problem.
Guessing from thin air is rather ineffective in this case.
 

A possible solution: to use an IR filter in front of the optical sensor.
 

reflective type devices are typically lensed to focus thier outputs/inputs
 

hey man which technique u r Using??
Reflector or hole on the Disk ??
mostly this type of problem occurs due to the wrong angles of IR sensors.
