Help me make a touch switch in VHDL on XC9536

Hello! I have to make a touch switch in VHDL on Xc9536. For example by
touching a metal surface You can turn on LED. Should I just connect this surface to I/O ports, or do I need something more?? I would be very thankful if
You coud give me some advise or some links where I can find informations about
similar projects.
 

Touch switch - VHDL

If it's simple touch sensor switch : you will need connect metal panel to
esd protection circuits see www.maxim-ic.com and www.ti.com for ESD protection
and res 10K in series to I/O FPGA, C=0.1uF to ground from I/O FPGA.

But if you want to light up led from touching metal by hand = it's more complicated task and you will need special touch hand sensor.
