I have tons of experience, but I can tell you right now, don't get involved. To begin with, there are 4 different hardware/software protocols, 2 of which require their own proprietary chip. These chips are not available without the approval of the car manufacturers (ie Ford and GM). The other two are fairly easy to implement in hardware, but require much more complicated software, but none of it is easy (why do think the scan tools are so expensive?). If you just want to read the blink codes, get the $39.95 version at Pep Boys, but to get the real DTC's, you're better off spending the bucks for a Vetronix scan tool (don't even bother with a Snap-On).On 2001-09-22 19:46, alileo wrote:
