Hi,

I bought (eBay $5) a broken Cobra XRS 9540 radar detector hoping it would be an easy fix.

Opening it, i found these three blown components. Doesn't seem like a hard fix if i knew any specs to replace them, and assuming there's nothing else blown.

Transistors, if that's what they are, have marking; 8D 735 and 8A 73? (guessing 735 also).

The other, im not sure what it is.

Thanks for any help!

Looks like someone reversed the power conections. The rectangular part with a connection at each end is a tantalum electrolytic capacitor like the two yellow parts but probably not the same value. The other parts have their center pins grounded so they are probably voltage regulators but I suspect they are not the same part numbers, they almost certainly regulate different output voltages to feed different parts of the circuits. Sadly, it's likely other parts have been damaged too.

Brian.

Yeah the way they look, there's probably more to the damage.

Oh well, im out $5, ..think I will survive. :)

Thanks for your help!
