Hi. We are a non-profit, educational tv station and our Sony RDR-HX715 HDD DVD recorder failed. We tried to find one on the internet (and even called Sony Business to Business center) but were not successful! They couldn't even recommend a replacement Sony player (so we contacted BH photo, and they couldn't help us either!). wow

Does anyone have recommendations?
:)
Here are the specifics:
-we have a minimal staff and can work only during the daytime, so we record the shows on the recorder and replay them at night. The thing about the Sony RDR-HX715 recorder that is so valuable is that it can be programmed to play the shows at a specific time (we need to have the shows start on time, like at 3am sharp)...actually, it shows how long the playlist is, and we make the playlist in hour intervals, but it works so far. Also, the Sony RDR-HX715 is 1080i compatible, and we are slowly buying equipment to transition to HD, so this would help us.

-SINCE WE CAN'T FIND THE SONY RDR-HX715 ANYWHERE, we need a replacement with these two main features (time adjustable, and HD compatible).

-we're not highly technical, but we are persistent. thru the ebay website we found "recommendations", are these good?:
-SONY RDR-HX870, SONY RDR-HX770, SONY RDR-HX790
-OR DO YOU HAVE A BETTER alternative???
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY ADVICE, you are totally helping out =)

An alternative suggestion - can the existing one be repaired? Often these sorts of units have common failures which can easily be repaired. Topfield PVRs for example usually fail due to power supply capacitors or hard disks. Both are easy repairs.

Hi Keith. Ya, we sent the other one to be repaired at the Sony center in Laredo TX, so it'll be a couple of weeks. We'll try to use it as backup when it comes back. Now, we'd like to get another same model, or better model with the same things. Thx for your recommendation. Hopefully we'll find it soon.

ANyone have any model recommendations? Thx!

Hi. We really need a DVD player that has playlist capability. For example, when our staff goes home at night, the dvd player will broadcast the shows at night at specific times. PLZ HELP

I have no experience of these, and am probably just duplicating your searches, but this is the best I can suggest:

Panasonic ones:

**broken link removed**

Toshiba RD-XS35

Toshiba RDXV48

Funai HDR-B2735

Pioneer DVR 433

Toshiba RD-XV49DT

Sony Rdr HXD560
