Hi, I am simulating an op-amp i unitygain feedback...I want to check the SNR of the opamp. When I apply an ideal sine wave to the positive terminal and plot the power spectral density of the sine wave of this ideal source I see a lot of harmoincs. and of course these will be then visible at the output too. My question is that why is the ideal source showing so many harmoincs?
What kind of opamp are you using ? What about the level of the sinusoid in input ? Some opamp have diodes in anti-parallel between inverting and non-inverting inputs to protect the device. If the level is high enough to switch the diodes on, harmonics can be generated.
