Jtag

hi
i'm Beginer in DSP and i have tms320vc33 starter kit. and i want to know what is the function of the Jtag emulator.????

and if the emulator is used for debugging and downloading programs
on the kit, so what is the function of Parallel port. because parallel port can do these functions...

so i want to know the difference between them ..........

Re: Jtag

Hi,
JTAG (joint Test Acc Grp) is a standard for debugging embedded processors. They are used normally with emulators where control points are communicated. You may set breakpoints/singlestep ... .

Parallel port is for data trnasfer only. When the processor wants to communicate anything to outside world it uses either serial or parallel ports.

hope this helps,
