Do you believe that the attached FlyBuck SMPS really needs a snubber across diode D2? The one I am looking at, has no snubber there, but just uses an ES1D diode (200V).

Maybe in the real thing (instead of sim shown here), the leakage ring wont be reduced enough in peak value by the stray capacitance of the diode?......
It depends a lot if the flyback supply is continuous or discontionuous. If discontinuous output current through the rectifier gracefully ramps down to zero and no snubber required.
If its operating in continuous mode, diode turn off is going to be a very violent affair. Some kind of snubbing along with a suitable diode recovery characteristics go a long way to reducing radiated EMI.
