Flash memory controller using FPGA

I want to do a flash memory controller using FPGA implemented with VHDL.Can any one help me with the overall idea of interfacing the controller with FPGA.I have little idea about interfacing.

Xilinx provides Off the self controllers.,you dont need to rewrite them.
