Finger print based Attendance system

hi there, i'am interested in doing this project for my final year and i'm proposing a different method i hope you will help me out in making it happen.

A system where the finger print reader sends the details to a mobile device connected via wireless or any other means asides cable method and this mobile device either a phone or tablet updates the attendance database at a central location with the details obtained from the scanner, rather than having a system where a computer will be connected to the scanner via usb or serial.

i'm proposing this kind of attendance system because of situations where the classrooms are less secured and the lecturer wont be tasked with carrying a laptop to every classroom lecture.
please help with hardware and software details required for this project

if you do a web search for microcontroller fingerprint scanner you will get plenty of links for basic hardware and software
you can add a WiFi module such as Microchip's RN171 to connect to the local wireless network and then a TCP/IP server
