Finding out about customised Character base LCD panel

Hi everyone,

I have a LCD panel with customise icon on the panel.
Icon for example that we see on the panel of the DVD player,
for example the play, stop icon.
Above the row of icon is a single line of char base display.
Would like to know if this kind of customised LCD panel,
is it similar to a 1/2/4 line character base LCD display panel.
