I am trying to make an amplifier to amplify pulses of a microsecond from an optical detector. The amplitude is of the order of 100 mV and a gain of about 50 is desirable.
Any one may please help providing a link to suitable resource and suggest a readily available operational Amplifier IC
How much is the expected rising/falling time value? Why do you need 5V amplitude, what is your load? Any other specifications (consumption, delay, etc.)?
Great problem to explore in a simulator like LTSpice which has good models for almost all Analog devices (Linear) opamps covering all types and bandwidths.
There you can see how well they can reproduce the pulse you expect.
Note that high gain and high bandwidth often benefits from having more than one stage.
