Explanation of gm boosting circuit

Who can explain the gm boosting circuit? See attached. How to deduce the result?Thanks in advance!

can u be a little more clearer in the design..is Vip the input and is the output taken fromthe source,It seems to me as though the gm is reduced (gm/1+gm ro),if ro is very high then the effective gm becomes 1/ro only....
 

gm boosting circuit

Put virtual short at output, unit step the input, then the output current will be gm11+gm11*ro11*(1/2)*gm21, therefore, the boosted equivalent gm is roughly gm11*[ro11*(1/2)*gm21]. i.e. boost by a factor of [ro11*(1/2)*gm21].
