Hello,

Can anyone explain me the difference between Encounter Power system and Encounter timing system. For voltagestorm which tool is used and why..??

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
M Ali

Encounter timing system is equivalent to primetime, to do the STA.
Encounter Power system is equivalent to primepower or now primetime PX, to do the power analysis, up to simulate and made a video where are consume the energy during one clock cycle.

k. Can I use cadence ets for voltagestorm(i.e for power analysis)....?? The EPS flow uses LibGen tool internally to generate Power Grid view of the chip, So does it takes cadence ets only to invoke LibGen tool...??

Thanks,
M Ali

if I remimber correctly the tool ETS package contains the EPS as well. (I means both bin are available in the same package)

Cadence renamed the voltagestorm as Encounter Power System. As u said EPS contains ETS package too, ya its correct, we use Voltagestorm ets version for EPS flow. The flow is called EPS but it uses ETS and the ETS invokes LibGen tool for generating Power Grid View(PGV), this is done using the parasitic res and cap of the chip.
Am I right in from the above statements...??

Thanks,
M. Ali
