it depends on your strength and skilles and liking ... Embedded is not just software or hardware. you can select anyone of them depending on your area of technology.

RF has got more to do with hardware, but software are also written for it...
i worked in RF for 4 years before shifting to embedded and all the skills i learnt in RF were and are used in embedded along with hardware skills... but you select the field on your liking and not on people poll....
