Hi,

I would like to build a automatic watering system without using motor.
Ie, water is already there in upper tank.I would like to use an electronic controlled valve for watering plants.Anybody has idea on electronic controlled valves( microcontroller based).

Regards
Sajeev

This is pretty easy with a sprinkler valve. Below is a link to a PDF file. The valves use a solenoid that is activated by 24V AC. These valves are fairly inexpensive. I would start by getting a sample valve and a 24 volt transformer. Connect these up to your water tank and verify that the water pressure is sufficient to turn the valve on and off. (You can just plug and unplug the 24V transformer.) The valves work by a pressure differential between the incoming water and the atmospheric pressure.
