Looking for a small interesting project which can be completed in 40-50 days. I don't want to start a lengthy project which can not be completed before finals. Please give some ideas on this. Thanks in advance

I have no idea what to start with. I don't know the exact difference between electrical and electronic project(ain't both roughly the same).

Yes, i know some computer software(C and C++)

electrical is more simple devices that use electricity - like vacuum cleaners, fridge, a/c
electronics is more complex devices that use electricity - like stereo, TV, DVD players

An electrical project, usually focuses on high voltage loads. Withing you study the flow of current, power flow, voltage regulation, efficiency, etc... You are concerned with conductors, magnetic fields, nodes, and wiring.

Moving to electronics, you enter the world of semi-conductors: types of chemical components, that acts as conductor or as isolator, according to outer conditions. An electronic project, is basically, smaller in size, than in electrical, not forget to mention, that electronics could be programmed as well. Such project, could have a dynamic output, reacting accordingly with the user, via smooth interfaces, such as character/graphical LCDs.

This depends, on your capability: if you are good in soldering/de-soldering, and have a good experience in programming languages, you can choose an electronic project, using a microcontroller for example.

If you are way advanced, you can mix electrical with pure electronics, such as automation.

Electronic project are more vast, and gets into way more topics. Electrical are huge too, but mainly focusing on basic electrical solid components, such as interrupters, relays, switches, etc.....

If you chose electronic, aim into microcontroller projects, using any sort of MCU, such as PIC or Arduino
If electrical you can go in the topic of electric machines, such as designing an induction motor protection for example, special machines design, power saving systems etc...

it is your choice.
