State the drawbacks of increasing data transmission rate with the help of decision region and boundaries.

Typically increasing the bitrate leads to reducing the interval (period) of individual pulses (bits). This suggests wider band is used and higher frequencies. Normally, square pulses have very broad spectrum, so if it can't 'fit' in the frequency response of the channel that is being used, some of the harmonics of the signals may be chopped off. This leads deformation of the signals waveform, which may be a cause for improper decision at the receiver.

Another related topic is the Inter Symbor Interferense (ISI). You may want to check this out on the internet.

Good luck,
Dimitar
