i am doing the design of QVCO. The frequency is 4G.
The frequency of ac current is also 4G.And amplitude is 10mA.
The AC rule is 20mA/um.
I want to know whether the current density depends on frequency.
thanks

Re: current density

It seems like for an electromigration limit, you only have to worry about the DC component. Thinking about the peak current that your metal can handle without getting too hot might put some bound on the AC current, though.

current density

thanks.
Could you explain more detailed?
for example
I=10sin(w*t) mA
the DC is 0.how can I design the metal width?

Re: current density

I would use the RMS value

Re: current density

ya you should go with the RMS value to calculate the metal width required.
