Do all viruses that wrecked havoc in XP will affect Vista ?

virus

i found that some softwares that work in xp do not work in vista and i've to check whether the software package has vista compatibility each time i download....
i have a doubt on whether all viruses that wrecked havoc in xp and previous versions of windows capable of doing the same to vista....
