I have a question regarding distribution transformer mounted on a pole (neighborhood), how are more than one house wired to a distribution transformer on the pole? Are they all connected to the 3 wire terminals?
Some details on this would be great. Links are welcome.
Transformers are autotransformer configuration. Secondary (for U.S. based) are 240 vac center tapped. Center tap is neutral with 120 vac to either end. Called split phase system. Primary side voltage depends on particular installation, typically 12 kV but can range from 7 kV to 25 kV.
it depends on single phase connection or three phase connection required for the home.
single phase ( 1 phase & neutral) normal for the homes
3 phase (3 phase lines & neutral)
