first-response discriminator circuit

Hey all I was wondering how, without digital ICs, one would make a first response discriminator for say a game. Basically it needs to detect the first signal and then reject all others, but as I said using only transistors and other discrete components, I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Thanks in advance.
