can i disconnect power from a dc power circuit by a N-channel mosfet on the low side. ?? so the gnd is disconnected instead of VCC . is this a good practice ?

i always read that GND should be secured and Vcc disconnected but why ???????
for my understanding is it the same because in both cases the current cannot continue its path to the battery .

any opinion !
