I am using a 12V/5A Full Wave transformer to step down 230V to 12V using diodes. After the rectification I'm getting 17V DC.
Then it is connected to an external circuit. Right now, if I mix up positive and negative power cables, there is no protection in the external circuit. So, I thought of using a diode to make sure that there will be no harm.
My first idea was to use IN4007. But when i read it's data sheet, it says that this diode can handle only up to 1A. But my external circuit uses at least 4.5A.
What are the options I have?
I guess I can use 5 * IN4007 parallel.
Are there better solutions? (I don't want to use another complicated circuit just for this)
