different domains data transfer

Is there is any method other than Async FIFO for data transfer between different domains having same frequency but different phase ?

I believe that even if they r the same frequency, due to different phases, they ll be considered as multi clock domains. and for data , which involves multi-bit transfer, i'm not sure of any other alternate method. but, for control signals, synchronizers are used.
