What is the difference in designing opamp as amplifier and comparator?
 

You mean how do you use the opamp like a comparator?

You don't connect any negative feedback.

Note that opamps make slow comparators and many opamps don't like it if their inputs aren't at the same voltage.
 

Are you asking about -application- (design with) or the
design -of- a op amp / comparator?
 

Internally op amps have frequency compensation (generally a 1-pole LP rolloff starting at a low frequency) so they are stable with resistive negative feedback.

Comparators have no internal compensation so they are much faster in doing the voltage comparison at their inputs, but are unstable (oscillate) with any negative feedback.
