[SOLVED] Difference between vero board and dot board?

What is the difference between a vero board and a dot board except for the appearance? Is it possible to cut the vero board for a small size piece if required?

Vero board is also known as copper strip board, ie: the hole pads on Rows are linked by the copper strip.
Dot boards are only copper pads, which are not linked by copper track.

You can cut Vero board, use a junior hacksaw and cut along the holes, after cutting, file off any copper whiskers on the edges.
Or
you can use a utility knife, well score BOTH sides of the board along the holes and snap off along the score, use the edge of the bench.
If you don't score both sides its possible that you will lift/tear the track off the board.

you can cut up the track in Veroboard to "dot" size. I think dotboard is for wire wrapping. The IC holders are soldered to the dots and the long pins of the holder then are connected by wire wrap. This method is much faster but is extremely untidy but the wiring can be modified easily. Its the sort of scenario where a design engineer can give a wireman the components and the circuit and the wireman would then produce the finished item.

hi,
I prefer the Vero copper strip PCB, it requires less copper wire links than Dot PCB.

Use a tool called a 'spot faced cutter' to cut and isolate the tracks as required.
Its also possible to use a 3.5mm diameter drill bit to cut the copper, always inspect after cutting that the copper track is free of whiskers.
Brush it hard with an old toothbrush.
