electrical idle

Hi,

What is the difference between Logical Idle and Electrical Idle in PCI- express?
On what conditions does each of them will get transmitted or received?

electrical idle

In Logical Idle the RX maintains bit/symbol lock because the TX will send IDLE symbols. The IDLE symbols do not contain data and are thrown away by the RX. Electrical Idle means the differential voltage applied to the link is ~0V (no signaling). If there is ~0V differential, then the RX cannot recover a clock and bit/symbol lock is lost.
