What is the basic difference between asynchronous serial communication and synchronous serial communication???
Synchronous data transfer:
1) sender and receiver use the same clock signal
2) supports high data transfer rate
3) needs clock signal between the sender and the receiver
4) requires master/slave configuration
Asynchronous data transfer:
1)sender provides a synchronization signal to the receiver before starting the transfer of each message
2)does not need clock signal between the sender and the receiver
3)slower data transfer rate
Example: a computer to printer that cannot send status signals back to the computer
