detecting an paticular object

consider you are having an image with more than one cricket balls of identical color . how can i localize or detect any one particular ball?
consider that both ball and background has same color.

suggest me the steps involved in detecting the single ball/ suggest me the best algorithm.

try to find the characteristics of the object such as an edge or a corner..u can also try to find the contours of the ball and based on the size of the contour the object can be detected..
