I am designing a smart meter using msp430f5438.I have just begun.Can someone suggest how to start with the code

You mean you want to write a code for MSP430? Are you newbie in this field or you have some experience. Instead of writing a code, try to spend some time on the reference code which is easily available on the TI site. Otherwise you could get the reference code wit h your senior. Every one need a reference code. Without a reference its not easy for a engineer to develop a self code. It requires much more experience. So instead of writing, start smoothly by just learing the flow of the code (reference code or the existing code).After getting experience you will be a good firmware engineer.

Thank you for your reply.I am a newbie in this field.I am studying the datasheet.I have the adc code and I am trying to grasp it.Should ct and pt values be given to adc channels individually?

As I already said, start smoothly. Means instead of asking a different functions and routine just try to understand the flow of the code. You said you are following the datasheet so that' good. Try to find out how to change the register affects the parameters or function of the code. For this you have to know about the basic of the code. After getting some brief knowledge of code, change the value of some registers. The only thing is important in code is "FLOW-CHART"(that's what I said at the start to learn).

First: what is a smart meter, what does it measure, how frequently, etc...
What did you write?
Where do you have a problem?

By the way, it depends how smart your meter will be, but if it's some measurement / display device,
I think the F5438 is well over spec. Do you need 256 k flash? Do you need 16k memory?
