I wonder know how to design a high pass filter from a low pass filter???

I know that a bandpass filter with central frequency Vθ can be designed from a low pass filter with a passband from 0-Vc, it is equal to the length from -Vc/2 to Vc/2, to convolute with a sine wave in frequency domain.

In high pass filter, I know we need to choose a value of Vθ(different from the above) such that the low pass filter become a high pass filter, however, I don't know how to choose such a value Vθ. Can any one give some helps?

Moreover, I surfed on the internet that a lowpass filter can be converted into a high pass filter by just inverting the signs of the odd terms of its transfer function, H(z).

Are the 2 methods stated above the same in designing high pass filter?
