i am doing project on smart energy meter reading system using gsm modem

my doubts are

1.how the energy is calculating in electronic energy meter
2.i am using electronic energy meter it will generate o/p pulse according to the load
i)what we have to consider this pulse as a Watthour or Kilowatt hour here we generally consider 1 Unit as 1 Watt hour
ii) is their any specific formula for generation of pulses

3. energy meter o/p is a pulse how we can calculate amplitude and frequency of a pulse

Regards,
Nageswar,

i think you must mean.... 1 unit is 1 Kilo-watt Hour
