Hello

My 5 year old and I are trying to use a dc motor on a wind up spring to turn the shaft of a dc motor and using the current created to run a small led light.
But when we turn on the light (switch) the DC motor boggs down.
Do I need to put in a Recitifier to allow the current to still get thru to the led and not bogg the motor down?
Any help for the kids is appreciated.

When u switched ON the LED it puts load on the motor so the motor requires extra power to run, use low current LED of small size, another thing measure the voltage produced by the motor with & without LED there might be possiblity that ur motor is producing more voltage then the required value if it is so then use a current limiting resistor..
