Hi,

Our company is investigating the feasibility of designing a custom DSP processor. One challenge now is the development of the IDE (i.e. editor, compiler, assembler, debugger, etc.). Can anyone suggest a good starting point -- i.e. is there anything available in the industry now which can be used as a good point to customize for our custom DSP processor. I know there is company which uses the Microsoft Visual Studio shell as a starting point -- I don't know the detail.

Thank you for any comments and suggetions on this topic...

there is always GCC and related tools. You would need to write code for some parts related to your architecture.
