cst waveguide

Hi,
I am a beginner user of the CST and I am simulating SRR structures. I want the waveguide ports as close as possible to the SRR. When I put the waveguide ports at the end of the SRR structure it gives me the folloving error.

"Waveguide for port number 1 is too short. The waveguide must be homogeneous for at least there mesh planes along propagation direction"

How can I solve this problem and get very close ports to the SRR?
I attached the CST file. For this structure, I want to get a unit cell with 2.5mmx2.5mmx2.5mm dimensions. However, when I applied this condition, SRR touches to the ports. How can I solve this problem without changing the port distances and SRR dimensions?
Thanks

cst files waveguide structure

Hi,
I think, that the sentence "Waveguide for port number 1 is too short. The waveguide must be homogeneous for at least there mesh planes along propagation direction" is understandable. Try find it in this forum, it is typical problem. Solution: You must increase meshcells - but it is not good for time, or better: little change your structure, the port need 3 meshcells in front of a homogeneous.

And btw are you sure, taht you have port on the correct side of your structure ?

I hope, that I helped you.

the waveguide must be homogeneous

Hi,

CST has two types of meshing, the universal or the local. To avoid increasing mesh unnecesarily, u can try build a component where u can locally mesh the area so as to include 3 mesh!

U can email me if u don't understand. I currently don't have access to CST, so, am not able to check ur project file, but if u cud take snapshots of the structure (including the mesh), I might be able to help u!

Take care, and all the best!

cst waveguide is too short cst

Hi,
I think, that the sentence "Waveguide for port number 1 is too short. The waveguide must be homogeneous for at least there mesh planes along propagation direction" is understandable. so for removing this problem You must increase meshcells - but it is not good for time, so plz do the little increase in your waveguide port size, the port need 3 meshcells in front of a homogeneous.

This is my sentence higher :D

this may happen when your model geometry is non uniform along any axis(like in cone)
you may try creating a regular geometry figure(cylinder/cube)right in front of the irregular geometry and then define port on the latter.
check if that helps
