crossed-slot microstrip antenna

Hi all, I have two basic questions:

1. what is the polarisation of a crossed-slot microstrip antenna? Is it always circular?
2. I have read somewhere that the crossed-slot microstrip antenna shoudl have unequal cross lengths..but I don't know the reason for this..Can somebody explain me the reason behind it?
