Disclaimer: I'm a newbie, self-taught electronics hobbyist. I'm just experimenting for fun.

I'm trying to design a board where I have an 8-bit CPU, 64K SRAM and a homemade "GPU" (ATmega8 generating VGA signals).

CPU+RAM works perfectly. GPU+RAM works like a charm too. But when it comes to merging all three together, I'm stuck: How do I interface the RAM to the CPU and GPU without causing "collisions"? I.e. they both shouldn't read or write at the same time.

How would you solve this? The simpler, the better.

DMA or shift clock. by the way, what is your CPU?
