Hi,

I am designing a 4 layer pcb in PADS software.

I need to use copper plate for a connection in my design.

can anyone tell me what is plating????

And what is the need and use of plating for copper area or traces???

Regards,
Vivek Alaparthi

Hi vivek,
select Copper draw it in Top where You want and then copy in soldermask layer in same location (that means soldermask opening )

In your design may be has high current in this connection so that only they prefer copper platting and for shielding purpose copper plating is used
