I have a US machine that I would like too modify to make Doppler measurements too. Any thoughts? Ideas?

Also I know you need to mix the recived signal with a reference version of the transmitted signal to get the doppler frequency shift. How do I generate this reference signal?

you can get the reference signal from the osculor of your system. What you need to do is only amply it.
