I have a 3 watt single LED flashlight that I am using for microscope illumination. It is powered by 3 AAA cells in series ( I'm assuming 4.5 v).
I'd like to run this off an AC-to-DC switching power supply which I have that is rated at 5V 2A. I have another "AC Adapter" rated at 5V 500ma.
Is this possible? If so, which power supply would be best?
If this is not possible, what would you recommend?

Warmest regards,
Gary

Either is fine, although the 5V 500mA one is a bit underpowered and might stop functioning.
However, if it is a very expensive LED light (microscope ones tend to be) then I would be tempted to find a
4.5V adapter, or stick a diode (e.g. 1N4001) in series to drop the voltage slightly).
