I have 21 year old .PCB file. Looking to convert this to ASCII format that I can then read into a different software tool.
For example for latest CADSTAR would be a .PAF file. Looking to convert file to format like ODB++, GenCad etc. Will be devleloping test for the board design and not doing any design.
Inside file using notepad see the following at top
PCB
Data Structure Access Version 2.4.2.12
Format:38
Also this is among gerber files which are all .SPL files that makes me believe that the .PCB is CADSTAR.
In order to guide others in a possible solution:
Altium Designer has a tool capable of performing such a task, but it has restrictions, such as the version of CADSTAR that generated the file, as well as its format, which should be ASCII, not binary.
