snake oil

This is pure snake oil. Notice that they are operating from a country which does not have laws about cheating the public.

bad joke

This is only a bad joke !!!

worse than joke

This is worse than a joke. People get financially cheated by buying these things. Several decades ago there was a device for connecting your radio or television to the house wiring as an antenna. Today you can still buy antenna improvement sheets for portable telephones.

The worst cheat is the women's cosmetic industry which convinces nice looking women that they are not unless they buy and use the latest cosmetics that make them look the color of tree frogs or outer space zombies.

As the American circus owner said, there is a fool born evrey second.

There is a UK based company making a device for savinf utpo 40% of power on induction motors. They advertise in Newsweek every issue but only tell the telephone number. No website. I have not seen such a device yet but the theory goes that by reducing the voltage of an induction motor when it is not running on 100% load, you get some saving in power while maintaining th torque. The voltage reduction is done by chopping rather than using a transofromer or pwm invertor.

It it true or does it also fit in the above mentioned category

And they still thrive in the mass market today. Most of these scams are hitting the consumers hard. Usually the best way is thru' telemarketing.

I remember the name. It was PowerBoss from UK. There are some links below. Do you thinks all are lying.

one good use

techie

The motor application is probably the only one where this will work. Drill presses are one example. The motor is running all the time but under load for small fraction of the time. All other consumer motors are turned off when not in use.

The link about motor starting does what was done manually in the past by having taps on the transformer that were switched as the motor speed increased.

The lighting example does not convince me. Increasing the frequency of the AC beyond the relaxation time of the gas in the tube will produce a continuous instead of a pulsed light source which is psychologically better on people.
