Connection of ASIC VPC3+C's XRD/XWR to LPC2148.

I am working on LPC2148 interfacing it with ASIC VPC3+C. how shoud we interface VPC3+C with LPC2148 as lpc2148 does'nt have dedicated READ/WRITE pins as that of 89C5132 has. Is it ok if we connect ASIC's XRD/XWR to LPC's TXD RXD? Or otherwise how should we connect them. i have attached ASIC's data sheet for its pin configuration and detail study.

Or can we use SPI alternately instead of RD/WR...?
