hello,

Is it possible to be able to connect the outputs of one microcontroller to the inputs of another without using complex (for me) serial interfaces? I can understand the need of such interfaces with high speeds, but is it alright to connect straight through with speeds of at most a bit a second or something really slow like that?

Thank you very much

Hi,
There is nothing wrong in parallel connection so long as you have sufficient pins available for the application.

You also need to consider the separation between the two microcontrollers, serial communication can achieve longer distances compared to parallel.

Thanks

So, will there be no problems with clocks going out of sync with each other if the switching is really slow?

Hi,
Assuming all your controllers are on the same PCB, parallel transfer of data between them is the quite commonly done. In such cases you may not need any clock synchronisation in many applications. You can use port bits for handshaking between micros to send/receive data.
