character not the same displayed wz wat was send out

Hi all,
I'm very new to hyperterminal and all. Im doing a project to send out an sms using pic18f452 on the later part.

I'm still at the stage on just testing out my gsm modem communication with PC.
I am able to send out an sms however the character that receive by my phone is not the same as wat i hv typed (at times I jus received blanks most of the time jus a square box). Appreciate if anyone cud help. Thanx a lot.

Hi Nandhu,

Thx for replying. Actually there is no circuits involved in this connection.
I simply connect the modem direct to my desktop using serial cable and try the hyperterminal to send an sms out to a phone that is all.

Codes that I use r as follows. Simple instruction codes.
at+cmgw="XXXXXXXX"
>hello(ctrl z)
at+cmss=1

everything was ok. msg received to my phone but not the hello msg, jus a square box.
