what is a 2d cartesian plot

How the cartesian plot of 2D-radiation pattern is done and what is the importance of this cartesian plot?????????
 

The idea is straight forward, plot angle alpng the horizontal axia and power (usually in dB) along the y-axis.

This conveys the same information as a polar plot and in some situations is easier to use. (Opinions vary on this.0
