Hi guys,

I have a question regarding capacitance between two arbitrary metal objects. Physically a capacitance can be defined on any two arbitrary metal objects. In electrodynamics the capacitance could be calculated analytically when the two objects have simple shapes. For more general objects, an analytica solution is not possible.

My question is: Is HFSS able to calculate the capacitance between two arbitrary metal objects? If not, is there any software that can?

Many thanks!

HFSS will give you the E-Fields. Using some math, you can use HFSS's equation calculator to give you the capacitance.

Does this method work for high frequencies?

The difficulty is to set up the feed/ports in a way that does not influence the result.
