what kind of system you are going to build all that depends.
 

i am building a rgb mood light..
 

you can implement any one of this, both are 18 pin IC.
 

The 628A is a direct substitute for the 627A. They are the same device, only the amount of memory is different and as the 628A has more, there shouldn't be any problem.
